Known as the Garden City of Bolivia, Cochabamba has 408,000 inhabitants and a warm temperature year around. It is located in the central valley region and agriculture is the main source of income .
The Chapare, one of the agriculturally richest subtropical valleys in Bolivia, and with rain fall between 1,000 and 2,000 inches per year, it is one of the places with the highest humidity in the world. It is a short distance on a paved road from Cochabamba. The valley has many adjacent rivers where you have beautiful natural pools and unbelievable exposure to nature.
Incallajta, Inca ruins bigger than Macchu Picchu in size, are at two hours from Cochabamba and are one of the sites that shouldn’t be missed. The Palace of Portales was the home of the tin baron, Simón I. Patiño. He owned nearly all of the tin mines of Bolivia at the beginning of the century and his home is now a luxurious museum open to the public.
