Chile is a narrow strip of a country that extends from the driest desert in the world in the north to vast ice fields in the south, encompassing sandy dunes, fertile valleys, wineries, clear lakes and rivers, snow capped volcanoes, ancient forests, massive glaciers, and multiple fjords along the way, all backed by the spine of the Andes on the eastern side and the Pacific Ocean on the west.

Traveling in Chile is easy as the infrastructure is great. If arriving by plane, most people will arrive in the Capital of Santiago, a modern city at the base of the Andes, sitting in the wine growing region in the middle of the country.  There are many short trips to be made from there, but other destinations include the Atacama Desert in the north, the Lake District in the south, and Patagonia in the far south.

Travelers to Patagonia can connect from Santiago and Puerto Montt by plane, or overland or even by boat from Argentina, making it easy to visit both Argentina and Chile in one trip.
