WHY THIS TRIP
The Galapagos Walking Adventure is in-between a traditional non-strenuous naturalist trip and a multisport adventure. The different Islands you stay at and explore show the diversity of the islands’ wildlife and landscapes; but you also have a bit more independence and time to enjoy the Islands instead of rushing about on a cruise.
TRIP DESCRIPTION
Most Galapagos naturalist tours involve walking and snorkeling, but each excursion is typically very short and slow-paced. The Galapagos Walking Adventure is a more invigorating way to explore the natural wonders of the Galapagos and get off the beaten path a bit. The concept is that by walking to a particular site within the Islands you’ll have more opportunities to observe wildlife along the way, get in a bit of exercise, see some less “discovered” areas, and still visit the more traditional sites that make the Galapagos famous. Rather than taking a bus or dinghy to shorten the walks, why not use your own two feet and experience even more of the Islands?
But this trip isn’t just about hikes and walks. The Galapagos underwater has its own marvels and definitely offers one-of-a-kind wildlife encounters. Each day includes snorkeling and sometimes in areas that naturalist cruise passengers aren’t allowed to visit. Each snorkel excursion is unique, but along the way you’ll probably observe green sea turtles, hammerheads, sea lions, small Galapagos penguins, tropical fish, and various (harmless!) sharks.
By hiking across and overnighting on three different Islands, you’ll observe the startling differences between landscapes, geology, and wildlife that Darwin first recorded in the Galapagos. Unlike Darwin though, you get to sleep in beautiful, boutique lodges all with 1st-class amenities and located right on the water. So while you’ll be working up a sweat hiking and snorkeling all day, at night you can really unwind and enjoy the Island vibe.
NeoTropic Expeditions pioneered active, land-based tours in the Galapagos and have made a name for themselves with their top-notch itineraries and overall service. The same enthusiastic and active guides also lead the Walking Adventure, so you get the experience of a certified naturalist guide and the energy of an adventure guide who loves to explore by foot.
* Note: You have the option of either private or group departure. we recommend that those who want more flexibility or those in a family group should go with a private departure.

Just wanted to tell you that our trip to the Galapagos Islands was fantastic . Everything went pretty much to schedule and we and a wonderful guide, Juan Carlos Naranjo. Juan Carlos was very knowledgeable, personable and made sure that everything went according to schedule and was in order. The hotel and travel arrangements worked out well and we all enjoyed ourselves snorkeling, swimming, and of course seeing all the varied wildlife and country. It was a great experience and we will keep Detour in mind for future trips.

Outstanding! It truly exceeded all my expectations. Our guide, Juan Carlos Balda, was so knowledgeable about the history of the Galapagos and all of the animals. We learned so much and Juan made sure that we were well taken care of. Loved everything about this trip.

This was a fantastic experience. Our guide, Juan Carlos Baltos, was knowledgeable, experienced, full of good humor, and very patient with us. Observing the animals in their natural setting was a life-changing experience for me. It expanded and deepened my awareness and love of animals and nature in a way that I don’t think any other kind of tour could have. All the complexities of scheduling (“planes, trains, and automobiles”) went off like clockwork, and I know that does not happen by itself. The whole experience was more than I could have imagined, and I imagined a lot! I even learned that I like to eat octopus!

Beginning with landing at the airport in Quito our entire trip went fantasticaly.Detour made all the arrangements except the air travel to Equidor. We were met at the airport and transported to the hotel we had chosen.Casa Aliso a very nice B&B. The staff was fabulous, they went out of their way to take care of our every need.
The next day we went on a guided tour of the city which we really enjoyed.
Then we headed for the Galapogos. Every detail from room and board to transportation was handled by either Detour or our Guide. We had the best vacation. Our guide Ossy was very good . He made this trip special for us.We reccomend him very highly.
The accomadations were first class, and food was great. I personally do not eat any seafood and Allie let everyone know ahead of time and I had other choices at each meal without any hassle.
Equidor is a beautiful country with friendly people. The Galapogos Islands were magnificent. We saw so much wildlife our expectations were exceeded.
We want to thank Allie for the time she took to answer our many questions and her expertise at setting up the best travel experiance of our lives.
